Sometimes you never know your idols are married until you see Nigerian actors and actresses wedding pictures on the blogs and in the newspaper. The Nigerian stars’ wedding is something the fans take to heart like it is their wedding. However, it is almost a culture for the same public to anticipate a list of divorced Nollywood stars. Unlike Hollywood, most Nollywood stars do not marry their colleagues, there are power couples but not so many.
Nuella Njubigbo and Tchidi Chikere
The latest love birds are an addition the list of Nollywood weds Nollywood. On Saturday the 9th of June 2018, Nollywood stood still as star actress, Nuella Njubigbo and popular producer Tchidi Chikere were joined in Holy Matrimony in Lagos State, Nigeria. The beautiful ceremony took place at the Catholic Church of Transfiguration, VGC, Lagos with their colleagues, family and friends in attendance. Both Nuella and Tchidi work in the film industry. She is an actress and he is a producer and actor. They lovebirds met on a project and were friends until both their relationships fell apart. In this time, they found love in each other. The couple wedded traditionally, in her family compound, Anambra state in 2014 after which, they welcomed their first child. Though the wedding sparked rumours and blogs took a toll on the couple, given that Tchidi was previously married with three kids, they seem to have come out strong. Nuella Njubigbo is a Nigerian actress and scriptwriter. The beautiful actress was born March 18th, 1984 in Anambra state, south-eastern part of Nigeria. After her primary and secondary education, she proceeded to Imo State University, Owerri, where she bagged a bachelor’s degree in Government and Public Administration. Ella, as she is fondly called by her fans and close friends, served in Delta State for her National Youth Service Corps program. Nuella began her acting career in 1999 after staring in Nollywood film ‘Royal.
Tchidi Chikere
Tchidi Chikere is an award-winning actor, musician, and producer. He was born October 10, 1975, and hails from Mbaise, Imo State, south-eastern part of Nigeria. Tchidi Chikere is one of Nigeria’s leading producers and is a University of Calabar alumnus with over 60 films to his name. Tchidi started writing scripts in school where he belonged to a musical band of three. The completion of his NYSC program he left for the UK to publish his first book. The year 2007 saw the release of his first album. The actor who is also a singer has collaborated with other popular music acts including the late OJB Jezreel, Pat Attah, and Marvellous Benji.
Gbolahan Afolayan and Adebanke Lawal
In April 2018, actor, singer and producer, Gabriel Afolayan wedded his heartthrob Adebanke Lawal. The traditional wedding took the fans by surprise when pictures flooded everyone’s Instagram explore page. The wedding GBanks2018 shut down Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and was trending on social media. The couple reportedly began dating 18 months before tying the knot, and the introduction ceremony took place in Osogbo, Osun State.
